Assisted living is defined as: a long term housing establishment for elderly people or people with disability who are able to still get around to an extent, but may require some assistance for some activities.
It is a place of residence - from individual rooms, apartments to facilities that have the same outlook as a an actual home, specifically designed to be self-dependent - for occupants with varying levels of medical attention and personal care.
It is a long term care service that provides accommodation, personal care, and health care arranged for each individual's personal need of assistance (i.g. activities of daily living) but still promote the utmost self-sufficiency. Trained caregivers are on site to provide help whenever needed to ensure that the occupant's health and welfare are in order.
